Forever Yours
No Comment // Written on Sep 25, 2008 // Film, Reflect Media, cinematography, forever yours“Forever Yours” is a film I photographed which was directed by Stephen Kellam. A high-resolution version of the film can be viewed on Steve’s website. New York Magazine featured “Forever Yours” on their website with a brief introduction. I’m happy with the way the film turned out. There is simplicity and a flow to the lost world. And there is something so strange about an empty train station. Since I first became enamored with the possibilities of digital film making, I’ve dreamed of shooting a live action film on a green screen. “Forever Yours” presented that possibility and with the most incredible backdrop possible: The beautiful old Penn Station whose majestic beauty has been lost to our generation. An infamous coffee joint in the new Penn Station has pictures on the walls. Stephen’s masterful work in 3D modeling was impressive even in it’s wire frame state. His sense of light and compositing really came together to make a beautiful and haunting final project. I quickly aligned myself with his vision of bringing back this lost world back to life with live actors. I was happy to work again with
Laura Hammer and have the opportunity to work with Paul Frolov. What might have seemed like a challenge, acting in a green void, turned out to be a lot of fun. For our chroma key backing we decided to experiment with a mixture of the Reflect Media and traditional chroma green and blue backings. We shot with the Panasonic P2 camera in 720/24pN native.
